OVERPASS AUTOBAHN A8 WENDLINGEN-KIRCHHEIM

By, generalad New Construction Comments: no comments

Project: New Bridge on Autobahn A8

Location: Kirchheim unter Teck, Germany

Date: July 2014

Client: PPP-Konsortium (Private-Public-Partnership)

Initial situation:

Within a PPP-Project the concessionaire planned the installation of humidity and corrosion sensors.

The objective of planning in the newly built area was to detect damage in the area of the caps and joints early enough before they appear. Because a very long warranty period has been agreed upon, it was necessary to observe the technologically-related vulnerabilities and the effectiveness of surface protection systems used over a very long period.

Solution:

CorroDec®2G

According to the damage occurring in the future in the field of technology-related vulnerabilities and the cap area, humidity and corrosion sensors had been installed.

Version 1 – Manual reading (Handheld device)
Version 2 – Automatic remote reading (via Internet)

The readout of the data was performed by the handheld reading device on site. With the new generation of sensor CorroDec®2G, this is now easily possible from a distance.

Added value:

  • Cost reduction in concrete repair
  • Differentiated repair in case of failure of the OS
  • Reduction of inspection costs
  • Control of inspection intervals
  • Reduced idle periods with later repairs
